      Heh heh heh!! I imagine she said something to that effect! 

      However, I understood that pasta was a medieval import to Italy from the 
      far east, probably as a result of the trip of Marco Polo and his family. 
      If there are other references to pasta earlier than that, I'd love to know 
      about them.
