Message: Etruscan spirit boat Author: musician - tanaquil Lupus Date: Nov 21, 2000 23:13 Some years ago I ordered a model of an "Etruscan spirit boat" from a catalogue (Smithsonian or one of the museums). It's a beautiful little thing, bronze, head of a long-antlered antelope-like animal at the prow, doglike creatures at the railings, two deer at the stern. I've never seen a picture of anything like it in books on Etruscan art, though; only a vague reference in D. H. Lawrence. Does anybody know anything about it? (And is the right topic to post it under?) Next: Etruscan spirit boat ( musician - tanaquil Lupus ) Previous: Judgment ( Grammarian - Messalina Lupus )
